Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our products and aloe vera care
Product & Quality
What makes Aloe Team different from drugstore aloe?
Our aloe is 99.8% pure (vs. 10-50% in most commercial products), cold-pressed to preserve polysaccharides, aloin-free to <0.1ppm, and batch-tested with certificates available. We prioritize bioactivity over profit margins.
What is your aloin content?
<0.1 ppm (parts per million)—100x stricter than IASC certification standard (10ppm) and 10x stricter than FDA recommendation (1ppm). This minimizes irritation risk, especially for sensitive skin.
How do I verify my batch quality?
Email your batch number (found on bottle label) to batch@aloeteam.com. We'll send you the complete test results: aloin content, acemannan levels, microbial safety, and heavy metal screening.
What does "cold-pressed" mean?
All processing steps occur below 25°C (77°F) to preserve heat-sensitive polysaccharides and enzymes. Heat processing (common in mass production) destroys 50-80% of acemannan content. Read our full guide →
Is your aloe organic?
Yes, we source from USDA Organic certified farms. Our aloe vera is grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or GMOs.
Usage & Application
Can I use this on my face?
Yes. Our aloe is gentle enough for facial use. Patch test on your inner arm first (wait 24 hours). Avoid direct eye contact unless using an ophthalmologist-tested product.
How often should I apply aloe?
For sunburn: every 2-4 hours until skin cools. For daily moisturizing: 1-2x daily. For irritation: as needed. There's no maximum—aloe is safe for frequent use.
Can I use this with other skincare products?
Yes. Aloe layers well with most products. Apply to clean skin, let absorb 2-3 minutes, then follow with moisturizer or sunscreen. Avoid mixing with acids or retinoids on irritated skin.
Is it safe for children?
Yes, for external use on unbroken skin. Supervise application. Patch test first. Not for ingestion. Consult pediatrician if applying to infants under 6 months.
Can I use this during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Our product is for external use only and contains no ingredients contraindicated during pregnancy. However, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before using new skincare products during pregnancy or nursing.
Can I use this on my hair/scalp?
Yes. Apply to scalp, massage gently, leave 15-30 minutes, then rinse. May help soothe a dry, irritated scalp without the build-up of oil-based treatments. Our scalp and hair guide covers application timing, what to layer, and what aloe does not do.
Storage & Shelf Life
How should I store aloe vera gel?
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C (77°F). Refrigeration extends shelf life and provides cooling relief but isn't required. Keep container tightly closed.
How long does it last?
24 months unopened from processing date. 12 months after opening when stored properly. Batch date is printed on label.
How can I tell if it's gone bad?
Signs of degradation: colour change from clear to yellow/brown, off odour, separation that doesn't remix, visible mould. Stop use if you notice any. Our shelf life and storage guide walks through the full look-smell-texture decision step by step.
Why should I refrigerate it?
Refrigeration slows polysaccharide degradation and provides cooling relief for sunburn. Not required, but recommended for maximum shelf life and soothing effect.
Safety & Skin Concerns
Can aloe vera cause allergic reactions?
Aloe allergy is rare but possible. Always patch test first: apply a small amount to the inner arm and check at 24 and 48 hours. If you see sustained redness, itching, or hives, stop using the product. Aloin-filtered gels reduce irritation risk. See our patch-testing guide for the full procedure.
Is this safe for sensitive skin?
Yes—our aloin-free formula (<0.1ppm) is specifically designed for sensitive skin. Aloin is the primary irritant in aloe. Still, patch test first if you have reactive skin.
Can I use this on open wounds?
No. Use only on intact skin. For deep cuts, burns with broken skin, or wounds, seek medical care. Aloe is for minor irritation and surface-level support only.
Will this clog pores?
No. Pure aloe vera gel is non-comedogenic and lightweight. It won't clog pores or cause acne in most users.
