Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies aloeteam.com uses, what each one does, and how to turn them off if you want to. It is written to be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It can be read back the next time you visit, which lets the site remember things like preferences, recognise that a session is the same one as before, or — for advertising and analytics — measure how the site is used. Some cookies expire when you close your browser ("session cookies"); others stick around for a set period ("persistent cookies"). Sites also use related technologies — pixels, local storage, fingerprinting signals — that work in similar ways.

Categories of cookies on this site

1. Strictly necessary

These keep the site working. They might remember that you have agreed to a notice, that you are mid-checkout (when ordering becomes available), or that the navigation menu was open on a small screen. Without them the site does not function as expected. They do not track you across other websites.

2. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — which articles get read, where people drop off, what is broken. Google Analytics sets cookies (typically named _ga and a property-specific cookie such as _ga_<ID>) that contain a randomly generated identifier and information about the session. Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider. The information is used in aggregate; we do not try to identify you personally from it.

3. Advertising

This site is monetised in part through Google AdSense. AdSense and its partners may set cookies that:

  • Help measure ad performance and prevent fraud.
  • Enable ad personalisation based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
  • Frequency-cap so you don't see the same ad over and over.

You can manage what data Google uses for ad personalisation, including turning personalised ads off entirely, at Google Ads Settings. Industry-wide opt-outs are available at aboutads.info (US) and YourOnlineChoices.eu (Europe).

Cookies set directly by Aloe Team

The site itself sets only the minimum cookies needed for its core functionality. We do not set first-party advertising cookies and do not use a separate first-party tracking script.

Cookies set by third parties

Most of the cookies you encounter on aloeteam.com are set by:

Cookie names and lifetimes for third-party services may change over time without notice from us; the providers' own documentation is authoritative.

How to control cookies

In your browser

Every modern browser lets you view, block, and delete cookies. Look for "Privacy" or "Site settings" in your browser's preferences. Useful pages from the major browsers:

You can also use private/incognito mode, which generally limits cookies to the duration of the session.

Opting out of analytics

Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics across all sites: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Opting out of personalised advertising

To turn off personalised ads on Google's services, including AdSense ads, visit Google Ads Settings. For multi-vendor opt-outs, see aboutads.info (US) or YourOnlineChoices.eu (EU/UK). Opting out does not mean you stop seeing ads — just that the ads you see are no longer personalised.

"Do Not Track" signals

Browsers can send a "Do Not Track" header. There is no industry consensus on how publishers should respond to it, and we currently do not change behaviour based on the header. The opt-out tools above remain effective regardless.

Changes to this policy

If we change the cookies we use or the providers we work with, we will update this page and revise the "Last reviewed" date.
